Suzie Rains Houde
Suzie Rains Houde Suzie Rains Houde, age 64, of Moss Point passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009. She was born September 19, 1944 in Smithfield, North Carolina and has been a resident of this area for 53 years. In 1997, she retired after 25 years of teaching at Our Lady of Victories Catholic School and Gautier Junior High. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula. She is preceded in death by her father, Francis Owens Rains; sister, Elizabeth Rains Smith; two infant grandsons, Michael and Mark Martin. She is survived by her husband, Raymond W. Houde, Moss Point; mother, Elizabeth Ormond “Lib” Rains, Pascagoula; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Simmons (Randy), Ocean Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Walker (Maria), Pascagoula; brother and sister-in-law, Frank “Sonny” Rains (Marilyn), Pascagoula; stepsons, Donald Penny (Lara), Vacaville, CA; Ryan Houde, Portsmoth, VA; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Martin, Jonathan Martin, Peyton Walker, and Jase Walker; step-grandchildren, D.J. Penny, Michael Penny, Damian Houde, Adian Houde, Jaclyn and Ryan Simmons, and Kelsey Ezell; one niece and four nephews, James “Bo” Smith (Delena), Todd Rains (Diane),Lisa Rains, Chris Rains (Wanda), and Lee Rains; numerous great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, 6:00-8:00pm at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, MS. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, 1:00pm, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula with Father Michael Kelleher officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, MS. Pallbearers will be Spencer Sublett, Dennis Gandy, Wayne Herring, Vernon Steele, John Fletcher, and Eric Rayborn.
