Del Wayne Neely, 67, of Marissa, Ill., born Nov. 27, 1941, in Lottie, La., went peacefully at his home in Marissa on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009.


Del Wayne was a retired Sheet Metal worker and enjoyed going camping with his family and watching his granddaughter play sports. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and papa.


Del Wayne  was a member of the Robert F. Arnold American Legion Post 172, retired Marissa Volunteer Fire Department member, Sheet Metal Workers 268, Masons of Illinois Marissa Lodge 881, Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory in the Valley of Southern Illinois, Ainad Shriners of East St. Louis, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents O.Y. and Littie Laura, nee Adams, Neely; a brother, B.L. Fry; four sisters, Kathryn Fry-Ewing, Betty Fry-Acosta, Jackie Neely and Roni Neely.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years Paula, nee Edgar, Neely; two daughters, Marsha (Mark) Schulte of Smithton, Ill.; Lori (special friend, Cameron Selman) Neely of Marissa, Ill.; a granddaughter, Miranda Kay Schulte; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Hospice or to the Shriners Children's Hospital of St. Louis.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Marissa, Ill. A Masonic service will be held at 10:50 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Marissa, Ill., with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Interment will be held at the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, Ill. Following the interment a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at Friedens United Church of Christ in Marissa, Ill.
