Jerry Killingsworth
is a native of Pascagoula. As a young boy he played with his twin cap pistols that he received for Christmas. His uncle called him "PISTOL PETE" which stuck and he has been called Pete ever since. His parents moved the family to Pascagoula so his dad could work at Ingalls Shipyard. His dad was studying radio and TV and eventually opened Killingsworth Radio and TV Shop. Pete grew up listening to his dad play steel guitar. In the process of listening to his dad, Pete discovered that he had the ability to play without being able to read music. His first guitar was a Silvertone from Sears. He sat in his room listening to records over and over again until he could play them. The other kids in the neighborhood were out playing but Pete was learning what he could and couldn’t do with his guitar. His music has always been an important part of his life. His other passion is photography. He enjoys an afternoon with his cameras photographing birds in the wild. Pete recently said, "My memories of Freddy & The Flames are wonderful memories, I look back and smile at all we did back then; what a ride we have had; I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world." |
